'Virgin with the Sleeping Child'
With a look of infinite tenderness, Mary draws a coverlet over Jesus' tiny body as he sleeps. Alberto Torres portrays her in a regal gown of floral brocade, embellishing her clothing and their halos with gold leaf. Torres works in the style of the Cuzco school, recreating colonial religious art found in the city's convents and monasteries. He frames the painting in hand-carved cedar with bronze leaf. Titled "Virgen con el Nio durmiendo" in Spanish.
